FAQ: FAQ

Do you perform any physical examinations?

Absolutely not. Doulas are trained in many areas. We are trained in pain management to help you manage your pain during labor and birth. We are also trained in different position techniques to help you labor quicker and easier.  Doulas are NOT medically trained. We provide no examinations of any kind. We do not perform any medical procedures.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

As doulas, part of our job is to help you and your partner connect with each other during your labor. A doula will NEVER take the place of your partner. We encourage your partner to fully engage during the labor process and help facilitate that process. We are a team. We understand how important the role of the partner is. The partners presence is critical to the mother feeling safe and secure and loved. Nobody knows you better then your partner. As a doula, we know the partner has a substantial part in your birth journey. They know all of your likes and dislikes. Doulas love to support not only the mother but also the partner. Doulas provide support to both of you.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

A professional doula like myself, will always respect all medical staff that I encounter. We try to be somewhat of a bridge between you and the medical staff. It's a delicate balance as a doula. We will never speak for you. It is our job to give you any information that you might need to make a tough decision. We help you talk through those tough decisions. If you have a question that we can't answer, we make sure that either your OB/Midwife or a nurse can.

I’m here to answer any questions you may still have. Contact me for more details.
